Nutrition/Health

Other areas of wellness can affect mental health!  Good nutrition and exercise can improve your sense of well-being and increase your ability to handle stress which will positively impact your mental health.  For example, there are many studies that state exercise can reduce anxiety and depression, and that yoga or meditation can reduce stress.  In their busy and pressured lives often people ignore their bodies.  These needs, along with other medical needs, should be addressed prior to or along with counseling in order to rule out physical causes of psychological suffering.  Check with your local health food store, an informative website such as Life Extension, or an alternative doctor (one who is knowledgeable in nutrition and open to alternative therapies.)
